God and Prayer
Have you ever thought about the power of prayer? What does the power prayer mean to me? What is prayer? Prayer to me is a conversation between the Lord and me. It is also a confession, asking the Lord for forgiveness of my sins. It is also giving the Lord thanksgiving for all that He has done and will do for me. Prayer is also placing my earnest pleas before God. Prayer is more then give me this or that Lord; it is also intercessory prayer for others in need and well-being before God.
Speaking of the power of prayer there has been things that have happened in my life where I know without a doubt that God heard my prayers and other ones that have prayed for me. Such as a life and death situation, I know that God heard my cries when my husband had a massive heart attack twelve years ago. Death seemed to be imminent when he arrived at the hospital, with the heart being five minutes from stoppage. Power of prayer is he being still alive twelve years later knowing that God is the reason he is still alive.
Prayer is faith that God can do anything. Nothing is impossible with God. Prayer is placing an earnest plea before the Lord asking and believing that the Lord can do. When there is faith in the power of prayer, you can move mountains. Things that seem the most impossible seem to happen when you place your trust in the Father above.
Power of prayer is trusting the Lord when you don't have the money to replace the roof that is leaking that has caused serious structural damage. Prayer and faith in the Lord comes into play when we petition God believing that He will provide the resources to have the roof repaired or replaced. Power of prayer is knowing that God is placing His hand over the hole in the roof to block the rain from coming in.
In Matthew 7:7-11 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives and the one seeks finds, and the one that knocks will be opened. Or which of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who is evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! (ESV)
I have seen with a friend who is a doctor, when he goes on duty for a week at a time he becomes very stressed out. I have prayed for him constantly when he is on duty that God will give him the strength to get through the week without being stressed out completely at the end of the week. This very last time I had prayed and seen that my prayers were answered when I didn't hear a song that reminds me to pray for him several times a day when he has duty I didn't hear but once during the week.
When I had talked to him the following week he told me that, his week of duty was very smooth. He could tell that there was prayer for him and that he could feel the arms of God holding him up all week long. That is the power of prayer. That is faith in knowing that God will make his week smooth. That is claiming the victory before the week begun. When we ask the Lord for something and believing that He has already done it is the power of prayer.
