Acne can have a devastating impact upon the psyche of those who suffer recurrent outbreaks, and those endeavoring to reduce the effect rarely look upon natural remedies. Perhaps this is due to the massive advertising campaign directed at promoting consumer use of commercial preparations, but in any case natural treatments work very well, and with a small expense attached to usage. It is important for those suffering from acne to understand acne can come from any number of causes, but the most likely one is simply skin pores clogged by body oils. The solution is very easy to understand, prevent excess oils on the skin and prevention of acne is certain to follow.

One of the most basic natural treatments for acne is to partake of an internal cleanse for a few days monthly. An internal cleanse is nothing more than allowing the body to cleanse itself of toxic foods that have been ingested and have a cumulative effect on enabling acne breakouts. Three days of eating only fruits, fruit juices and nuts along with drinking 8 glasses of water daily will flush the system of pore-clogging toxins like sugar and oils, and have shown wonderful results in battling acne naturally without chemicals. If an individual can incorporate into the internal cleanse a significant amount of exercise, the cleansing process is enhanced greatly and results will improve accordingly. A balanced diet that includes a daily multi-vitamin rich in chromium, zinc and vitamin A works internally to increase skin quality and reduce acne.

Facial masks made of natural ingredients have an excellent affect on keeping skin pores open and thereby reducing acne outbreaks. A simple mask made of a beaten raw egg applied to the face and left to dry, followed by washing the face with a sulfur based soap in a gentle manner has good results. A similar application of a honey mask has qualities to soothe sensitive skin, as natural honey has antibacterial properties. A simple poultice made of aloe has a wonderful soothing sensation on severe acne and can also help prevent scarring.

One of the best natural treatments for acne is to apply common sense. Refrain from touching the hair and face to prevent the spread of acne, and males should try to remain clean-shaven. Females should not use makeup at all when acne outbreaks occur, as it can make the condition go from minor to severe very quickly. A basic act such as changing one's pillow case daily can prevent the transfer of oils from bedding back to the face.
