How I use the Internet

Funny though, I have never at any point stopped and thought about how the internet has become such an integral part of my daily existence. Ten years ago, I remember vividly, I walked into a cybercaf, as they are fondly called in my native country, and there and then my romance with the internet began, in a rather bashful way. I was clueless. I remember it was the attendant who opened my first email address and even chose my password for me! Ever since then, like an addiction, the internet has captured every bit of my devotion.

The internet for me is more than a tool, it has become a friend and a partner, and sometimes even my brain. I mean, isn't it just so convenient to look for stuff on the internet than to start cracking your skull to find it? And I am sure some would agree with me that the internet sometimes is faster than the good old skull. For the brain, it takes energy in terms of food, drink, health, and the tasking effort of thinking, but for the internet, all it takes is a some good Microprocessor, a reliable broadband connection, and a good browser bar - Bingo! There you go, some brain real estate savings there! Matter-of-factly some brains designed the internet so that other brains in their old age can retire in peace. In all sincerity, the internet is a great way to find facts relating to any topic. As a student doing my final year project, the internet came handy in finding useful statistics and data to support my literature review, I even found similar research papers and abstracts written on the same subject. However, it takes some form of adeptness to be able to optimize the usage of internet search engines, so as not to come up with tonnes of unusable or irrelevant information.

Shopping is an essential part of living, believe it or not, we cannot not buy things. I for one, love to shop for books: historical, fictional, spiritual; I love books. I remember one of my hobbies used to be visiting every bookshop in town just to see if there might be something interesting to buy. The internet has been a tremendous help for me in this regard. With the click of a button, I have access to millions of websites where I can purchase books, and sometimes at unbelievably cheap prices. Alibris.com; abebooks.co.uk(.com); amazon.com(.co.uk);ministryhelps.com;- I could make a compendium. There are even websites where you can download books free of charge, or read them online. Such bliss that is afforded me by the internet is not
