Thrown head-first into the chaotic world of Ancaria, you begin a journey of epic wonder founded on the idea of riches, glory... and boredom.
Sacred 2: Fallen Angel (Metascore 71) lives up to its motto of "Light or Shadow, you decide!" in that you will either like the game or not.
To begin on the high notes, Sacred 2 is a very large Role Playing Game (RPG) for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Personal Computer and is a sequel to the original "Sacred" (
Metascore 77) found only for PC released in 2004. The game advertises that there are over 600 quests available for you to undertake, which is no small feat. It is unfortunate to note that most of these quests are your mundane "Go kill 'x' number of 'x's" or "Take this item to this person", these quests plague all RPGs in some form or fashion, yet Sacred 2 intends to take the cake by providing you with several hundred of them.
Provided in the game are six customizable character classes all of which to be expected have their pros and cons. Several are to be expected in an RPG, such as the "Dryad" nature lover, or the "High Elf" fighter. Though uniquely they have added a "Temple Guardian" class which is a cyborg mold between a robot and a walking-canine, capable of shooting lasers out of his arm. Who would not want to play as a walking robotic dog that can launch lasers? Though with the interesting mould of only six character classes, the game itself provides an additional perk for re-playability by adding a class-specific quest for all six playable characters. Bountiful rewards ensue as you replay the game six times (If you dare)!
Multiplayer is also capable, however is implemented in such a fashion that is upsetting. If playing on the same console with your friend, both players will be required to remain on the same playing screen. This makes sense based on that you're only using one television... but without the ability to zoom out the playing area is truly quite small. Multiplayer is a plus over the Internet, where up to four players can play cooperatively and are capable of going wherever they please in the very large game world. Sadly, all players will be working on the quests of the host; though on the bright side, this does give your character the opportunity to replay a quest more than once as you may use your character between different games keeping your statistics and equipment.
Mounts are provided in the game as well to aid travel between locations. Unfortunately the game poorly allows you to attack enemies
