Once upon a time,
Blah, blah, blah,
And happy ever after.
Yeah, right.
The truth is more like
Once upon a time
A young woman,
full of dreams,
Got married.
She cooked,
She cleaned,
She gave birth,
She raised kids.
Through sickness she nursed them all
Through pain she made it better
Through storms she comforted
Through loss she was there for hugs.
Twenty years later,
A few gray hairs
A thicker waist
A pair of sagging breasts
And a note left on the table.
I need more passion,
I need more adventure,
I need more life,
I'm gone it said.

My shadow quivers, hunched as a beaten dog.
Conformity is your demand.
