How to know if you're a Christian

Knowing if you are a Christian is a very opinionated question. It is like asking what someone thinks of a politician. You either like him or you don't. The same concept exists when someone is questioned if they are a Christian or not. It is either a yes or no response. What about those that really do not know. Why do we have to be labeled as a Christian or non believer. Does anybody truly know that they would be considered a Christian in the eyes of their God? The answer to this is no. Christianity is a brotherhood formed by an institution called the church. They usually only communicate amongst each other, eat with each other, and believe the same thing.

I would classify the Christian as a follower which is actually what the Bible suggests. But let's stop and think what a follower of Christ would actually require. Jesus always reiterated that we are all scum of the earth, that no person is better than the next. This is a pretty easy concept to grasp. My question is where did Jesus spend his time when he was here on Earth? It was not in seclusion from the world; he entered bars, hung out with prostitutes, and mingled with thieves. Now the question that must be asked is Why does Christianity in today's world look down on these actions and encourage other Christians to stay away from activities and certain crowds. This is not Christ like. This is living in fear. We are living the exact opposite that Jesus intended us to.

To live Christ-like is to try to act and respond to daily situations like Jesus Christ would. This does not mean to shelter yourself from the world. Jesus performed miracles for prostitutes, adulterers', and murderers'. What happens if someone commits murder in the state of Texas? They will probably face the death penalty. Why are human beings acting as God on judgment day? Isn't it obvious that we are punishing the murder with murder? Is that Christ like? Would a Christian do this? I think the answers to these questions are quite obvious. Did Jesus ever punish a murderer by sanctioning him to murder himself? None of us are Christians, we might be able to say that we believe in Jesus Christ's existence and acknowledge his father as the creator of the universe, but I think Christianity left the world when the Son of God did.
