Making your own choices

by Sheila Cameron

Created on: September 18, 2009

I coach and develop people on a day to day basis and try to make a difference to their lives. I am passionate about people and the direction in which individuals should go.

We all need to take responsibility for the choices we make. I am going to break down what taking responsibilty means and how you can use it going forward to achieve your end result.

Dont blame circumstances or other things for where your life is now

Deal with the relationships you have with your family, friends, work colleagues, customers etc with integrity and keep building those relationships.

Don't criticise the weakness of others but view them with compassion Its not how they should be reacting to a situation but how you should be reacting.

Think about your mindset you can choose your own attitude

Be aware of your own surroundings and effect the things that are within your control and not those which are out of your control

Seize the moment never let opportunities pass you by.

We can blame any number of reasons why we react in the way we do whether we believe it's our parents fault, childhood experience, private adult experience, monetary situation or just the sky was the wrong colour that day.

Now deep down inside we know logically that this is not true, that we have the free will to change the conditioning that we feel we have had and react differently. So ask yourself do you have the right to choose the way that you react in any given situation? Yes or No.

I have just sat and watched a video on Youtube about a young man called Nick Vujicic, please go and watch this ispirational young man and see how he does not blame circumstance for where he is today. He has profited from a personal pain not in the monetary sense but in terms of personal growth and living life as it is meant to be to the full and seizing the moment. I know I am a tease and thats all I am going to give you because I want you to go and watch the video.

Now we have seen many people who have been successful and inspirational through our lifetimes and how do you think that they have achieved this, please take a moment to ponder on this question?

Personal examples:

Sir Richard Branson

Sir Alan Sugar

Dr Stephen Covey

Tony Robbins

Bill Gates

ANSWER:

THEY VISUALISED THEIR OUTCOMES.

Stop blaming factors outside your control for the outcome of your actions

We have self-awareness. We have the right to choose.

We as human beings will blame everything from our DNA, our up bringing, to the social enviroment
