Why falling in love can be intimidating

Falling in love. This is something most people have done or wish they could do at some point in their lives. If there is anything that is both equally inviting and intimidating, it is this. Love is uniquely defined by the person feeling it. With so many people one could choose to love in this world and so many thoughts on what love is, knowing who to fall in love with can cause as much uncertainty as what to do about having the feeling itself. Throughout one's life love can take on different meanings. There is "puppy love", "first love" and "true love" all of which are related to where a person is in his or her life. People fall in love in all of it's varieties. True love is the deepest, and is usually the goal of someone wanting to have love for a long time.

Love is a feeling that is interpreted by criteria based on personal feelings. These feelings may be influenced by time, one's own experiences, and most importantly by the person for whom love is being felt. For some, time gives a relationship meaning. When do two people fall in love with each other? This question may or may not have the same answer when asked to both people involved. Was it at first sight, years later, or sometime in between? The evolution of a relationship cannot always be predicted. If one professes to be falling in love with a person that does not reciprocate the same feeling, it can lead to rejection. There is also the chance that a person who falls in love with someone can be fooled into thinking the feeling is mutual by whom he or she has this feeling for. Actions often play a part in proving love; but sometimes it can be hard to determine if both people involved share the same feelings. Also, there is no guarantee that the feelings will last if they are shared. Falling out of love can be devastating.

Anyone falling in love risks rejection and a broken heart. Being willing to go through this is the first step to finding love. To love, one must begin somehow. It is something worth striving for. A person may fall in love many times before having love or it may never happen at all. I think the risks are worth taking in an effort to fufill life with love.
