Poetry: Frozen emotions

by Alexis Jardin

Frozen

Long ago I would have given in,
like a child to a parent.
Submitting myself to the wants of others.
Not long ago I would have given up everything I am,
so that you would love me.
No longer will I be your slave,
I won't be walked on like I am a sidewalk poorly paved.
I now turn my heart to stone, using it to sharpen
my innocent tongue.
My soul turned to ice and chilled my spirit to the bone,
My breath has left my body only to become,
wind of hate.
You cannot control me any longer through guilt,
nor brutal afflictions upon my emotions,
I am now...
Frozen.
