LOVE?
If I asked for a hug
Would you give me a shrug
And quietly vacate the room?
If I asked for some love
Would you give me a shove
And turn my whole day into gloom?
If I asked for some talk
Would you just sit and balk
Because you just can't spare the time?
If I asked for some praise
Would your eyebrows just raise
Because I would dare cross the line?
I have asked for these things once again
I have begged for emotional ties
While you follow the course of most men
The result is my heart slowly dies.
You asked me one day for a hug
I quietly vacated the room
You asked for some love and I gave you a shove
Do I sense that you're now filled with gloom?
You said that you just want to talk
You said you just needed some praise
I now have no time
Since you dared cross the line
Your kind of abuse really pays.

My twenty eighth birthday shaking hands with a past
I'd just as soon forget.
