Twitter is probably the silliest name you would hear over the Internet, also one of the most addictive and popular around the world wide web.

Twitter is a micro-blog social networking website. Dedicated to allowing it's users to sign up for free and connect with other people (or tweeps) in the Twitter world.

Twitter has it's advantages being useful for advertising websites, businesses, blogs or just let the family know what you're up to in 140 characters or less.

Keep in mind as every website Twitter has developed it's own set of lingo. Tweeps mean people, tweets are the messages you send and receive and tweeting is what Twitter users do. Hash tags are # followed by a word so everyone interested in a certain subject may see it, example superman would be #superman.

Visit www.Twitter.comto get started. Sign up is free and takes no time as Twitter, unlike facebook doesn't require a detailed profile although a nice picture is recommended so that other Twitter users can see who they are tweeting with. Choose your Twitter name wisely. Anything provocative will definitely attract unwanted attention and you could risk being deleted.

The best place to start meeting fellow tweeps is through the search. Try searching for people with common interests or by the trends section.

Once you start gathering followers make sure to follow some back. Make your tweets interesting. Nobody wants to hear about how bored you are.

There are many celebrities who use Twitter such as Kirstie Alley, Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher etc and have been verified along with many other music, movie and TV stars on www.truthtweet.com. Although most of them won't follow you back, celebrity tweets are a good way to see what you're favorite artist is doing.

You have the right to block anybody following you that you don't want reading your tweets. Keep in mind the Internet is a place where freedom of speech is at an abundance. You will run into tweeters and tweets that you would've been fine without seeing. Just ignore and move on.

Being a member of Twitter is alot of fun but like everything else online it is a public arena of information so please be safe and don't post anything you really wouldn't want the wrong eyes to see. Over all have fun with Twitter, it is one of the Internet's best social networking technologies.
