Mickey Mouse meets Wolverine? Wow! That would have blown my mind had I heard such a possibility back when I was a kid! Now as an adult I understand the workings of business. It still surprised me when I heard of Disney purchasing Marvel Comics.
As a child I was a huge fan of Disney. I loved the wholesome movies. I enjoyed their cartoons. Every Sunday evening I would watch The Wonderful World of Disney.
I was also a huge Marvel Comics fan! I would go down to to the bus station/grocery store in downtown Mission, Texas before Mass on Sundays to check out the new comic books that were trucked in. Those were the good old days.
If you love your Disney and your Marvel Comics you must surely hope that one will not ruin the other. Both entities have unique qualities and fanbase.
Somewhere on that road of entertainment they travel close to each other. You do not want a huge car wreck.
Disney must continue to do what it does best. Remain a family-based business. Make fun and wholesome television shows and movies. Run the amusement parks the usual way. If it is not broke do not fix it.
Marvel Comics must be run the same way. Do not deviate with what made Marvel Comics unique and so successful. For example, do not fire current writers and artists who work at Marvel! Do not Disneyize Marvel! Let Marvel be Marvel.
Do not open up a Marvel Comics themed amusement park. Keep the superheroes in the pages of the comic books and on the silver screen. Keep them at comic book conventions, movie debuts, Keep them in animated videos without Disneying them down.
Do not have actors portraying Marvel Comics characters walking the grounds of the amusement parks. If they are to dress up and greet the public, let it be in the form of events related to the comics industry. I am talking comic book conventions or a tour of the Marvel Comics offices.
Continue to make Marvel Comics movies the way they have been done. Do not deviate from that plan.
Marvel Comics has some very complex and sometimes dark characters. If Marvel Comics tones them down the fans will reject such changes.
It is up to the Disney head honchos to decide what road to take. Their decisions will have an impact.
The Disney aquisition of Marvel Comic can be marvel-ous if they let Marvel be Marvel and not a Disneyesque version of Marvel.
