Art is not something apart from nor is it something out of your realm of understanding. Art is with you even when you know it not. Being yourself is your first step in becoming a great artist, or at least an appreciator of art. Although you may not connect your style of clothes with anything other than a fad, it can be considered your first understanding of your very own personal art style. Watch carefully and see if the kinds of clothes the people in your painting wear are those that you prefer. Art is from within and decorating them in this way simply comes naturally.
Emotions within direct your mind and your eyes to what is pleasing to you. In most all circumstances, choices must be made. Should I wear this mint colored plaid shirt with this black and white striped pair of slacks, or would plain white slacks look better. To a degree. But basically, what you started out with - your likes and dislikes - will still be with you when you grow old. Both you and it will have mellowed and neither will cause much distress one way or the others; but take it from me, your personal art style is developing along side you each day.
In the field of fine art your style will have preferences. Your life of art may have started off with your desire to be alone and to think and to pretend and to make up stories and fantasies. In school you may prefer creative writing over painting and sculpting with clay. Later on you will find the two are not inseparable and the ability to relate to one enhances your ability to relate to the other. Although you didn't think of personal art styles and such while working in
