There is nothing worse than having to deal with a rude date.
Dating can be hard on the nerves at the best of times but sometimes it can expand into the date from hell. What do you do when you have to deal with a rude date?
First of all, know where the exit is. Being on a date with someone who is rude can not only be uncomfortable and hard on the nerves but it can also be very embarrassing. Always remember, there is an exit and there are taxis you can take to get home.
Some people can be extremely loud, obnoxious and down right animalistic. At first you find yourself thrilled to be going out for a romantic dinner for two only to find half way through the date he or she is getting louder with each sip they take from their fancy glass of wine. You find your date talking to the next table over while cracking loud jokes that are not funny whatsoever, to making rude comments to the waiter or waitress. Example: Your date comments loudly, of how he would like the waitress as a main meal.
There are many examples of being on a date with someone who is rude. The question is, how to deal with a rude date. Here are a few tips.
When you feel the discomfort starting to take over, you can bring it to his or her attention that their behaviour is making you feel uncomfortable. Being civil is the first step. Unfortunately most rude people are rude to the core so they are unable to know any other way of being. More than likely a civil comment from you will be responded to with some crass remark or loud spoken words that will embarrass you even more. When civil does not work, excuse yourself, go to the washroom and figure out your next best plan.
Excusing yourself and going to the bathroom gives you the space to get on your cell phone and call a friend, tell them you need them to call you in 5 minutes and pretend there is an emergency. This will give you the excuse to say, you must leave now!
Distancing yourself from the rude one and inter mingling with others around you in a social atmosphere is a good idea. You can explain that you are on a date and this is not the kind of behaviour you expected. Let them know you are not the partner of the obnoxious, loud, rude person and maybe someone will offer to drive you home.
I find the best way to deal with a rude date is leave the scene. I have been on a couple dates from hell and I just leave.
By having your own vehicle with you this makes it easier to escape the scene. Just slip out the back door and be gone! You do not have to explain or tell the rude date that you are leaving. Just go and when they call you later and ask why you left them there? Tell him or her that you found them to be rude and no longer wish to communicate, and hang up! There is no second guessing here.
Do not attempt a second date with them when they apologize for their behaviour later. If you do go on a second date it is usually worse than the first time.
Live and learn. What you see is what you get.
