My True Story of the Ouija Board

[A Tale of Love, Adventure and Death]

The article you are about to read is true. You may not believe it, but that does not change its veracity. Very few days go by that those past events do not cross my mind. Sometimes my dreams are haunted by the occurrences recorded here.

Let this testament of what transpired with a Ouija board - not once, but twice - be a warning to you all.

During the summer of 1970 my best friend, Bruce, and I sat down to try out what we thought was a game. I had just purchased a Ouija board from a local toy store chain and we thought we'd have some fun with the board. We both knew it was an occult toy and that it supposedly could contact the spirits of the dead and other non-living entities.

That night, that sultry summer night, we sat in a suburban house in a room away from the others so we could investigate the paranormal side of reality without being disturbed by background family chatter.

At the time we both thought it a daring and an adventurous undertaking. I don't believe either one of us really expected much to occur that night; we were just looking for something different.

We sat at the board, our fingers lightly touching the Ouija planchette for almost an hour with mixed results. Nevertheless, we decided to continue.

During the second hour an unnerving transformation occurred. The board seemed to come alive. The planchette became electrified. It began to scoot and dart from one letter to another. The planchette acted as if it were becoming possessed, and reflecting back upon the events of that evening I believe that's exactly what happened.

At first, Bruce and I laughingly accused each other of manipulating the pointer. Yet we could
