A haircut can drastically change your look. That is why most women do not take this matter lightly. Sometimes, it makes all the difference between looking grim to looking great. Unfortunately, not all haircuts are guaranteed to flatter your face. Women have unique facial qualities, in terms of overall shape and also the shape of their facial features. Although, there are many ways to get around this predicament, it's best to start with the basics and find the right type of cuts that will flatter your face and its beautiful parts.

Strong Facial Features

Long hairstyles are wonderful for focusing on the most important features of your face such as the eyes, brows, cheeks, nose and lips. Long hair is great for softening faces with squarish jawline since it covers the sides of the face including the jaw. This hairstyle is also helpful in slimming down round faces, giving more focus to your cheekbones and the rest of your features.

Layered hairstyles can make anyone look more stylish with very little effort. Adding layers can instantly boost your look since it can create plenty of contrast and movement along your tresses. It can also emphasize various facial features depending on the lengths of the layers. Layered hairstyles look beautiful on women with darker features, such as dark hair and eyebrows, because it makes your face look less heavy compared to even cuts.

Long and wavy hairstyles softens your face and at the same time gives your features an instant lift thus making you look younger. The waves gives strong features a rounder, curvier feel which takes away from the edges of your face.

Full Facial Features

Wavy or curly hairstyles compliments faces with fuller features because the hair's volume is more consistent with the scale of your facial features especially if you have large eyes, nose or lips. Having wavy hair plays with the round features of the face and the soft curves of your tresses tricks the eye as to the actual shape of the parts of your face.

Bangs are great for women with wide foreheads such as in heart-shaped faces since it minimizes that area significantly. This is also helpful in shortening long faces and veiling high hairlines. Bangs that end along the brow emphasize the eyes while those that end along the ears can emphasize the cheekbones and jawline.

Delicate Facial Features

Straight and sleek hairstyles compliment faces with small or thin features since it mimics the delicate characteristics of the face. Short, straight bobs can make small faces appear larger and fuller. Straight hairstyles can also give your face more presence since your features are not drowned out by the weight of your locks.

Pixie cuts and boyish hairstyles look best on women with soft, feminine features. They pull this look off exceptionally well because the contrast between the masculine haircut and their effeminate face only help to emphasize their beautiful features. Some famous celebrities who sport this look are Halle Berry and Audrey Hepburn both of whom became widely appreciated for their beauty after they took on this bold haircut.
