An elderly man, garbed in holy clothes, slowly made his way down the aisle of a full amphitheater. The hundreds of people waited nervously to find out the fate of a different sub-culture. A respectful silence spread as soon as their leader stepped on the stage.
"We have assembled today, November 4, 2008, in San Francisco, California, with the intent of saving marriage and the future."
Cheers erupted from the religious audience that believe it's their right to treat certain groups of people as inferiors. Their smiles and anticipation grew stronger as he continued his speech. Everyone held on to every word his so-called wise mouth spoke.
"First of all, thank you for your donations. The churches in charge of this campaign have spent millions to enforce our belief. We have been battling these sinners to be the voice of God. In this last decade, their influence has experienced large growth. It is our duty, as servants of God, to stop them from gaining the same rights as us. What happened to the sanctity of marriage? What direction is this world heading? Marriage is about love!"
With those words, many husbands and wives raised their hands clasped together in almost complete unison. The children, unaware they were being exposed to prejudice sentiments, curiously listened to their leader preach against acceptance. The audience roared like a black panther from the desire to squash their hunted prey. The white-haired leader paused to gain momentum for the news he was about to deliver.
"This reality humans have created is rooted in evil and sin. The state of California today sent a strong and clear message to Californians and the rest of the United States. California has clearly spoken, they will not allow homosexuals to marry."
The audience clapped from legally achieving their bigotry. All their time and money allowed for their success in a country where separation of church and state exists. They ruthlessly halted the legal unions of this harmless group of people. Fortunately, preventing legal marriages for gays and lesbians has only strengthened the love they for their partners and their community.
"All of you that voted for the ban, God thanks you and loves all of you! You are all carrying out the word of our ancient book. This moment makes me happy. We all united to prevent them from marriage. We hunted them down like a startled antelope. Remember, love thy neighbor, unless if he is gay!"
