WHO AM I AS A TEACHER

Human as I am, I have imperfections. But because I am a teacher, I have learned the true nobility of this profession and that I am most fortunate of all who labor. I have learned to be many faces. Why? Because I am a different personality on my own different set of students with variety of traits and characteristics.

As a teacher, I am an actress, friend, doctor, coach, finder of lost articles, psychologist, politician, keeper of the faith, and always to stand before my students with the diligence of a good father of a family. As a teacher, these are my humble responsibilities. To touch hearts, to teach minds and to transform lives. Do you think it is easy to carry out these tasks? Yes, it is. Because as a teacher, I am equipped with the knowledge that my mentors taught me. I am honed to be a person of virtue and dignity and I have the heart to love, the hands to serve and the willpower to make a difference in someone's life.

As I have began, human as I am, I have imperfections. Though I am carrying humbling responsibilities, more humbling is the thought of making a mistake as a teacher. It is my humble submission, however, that our own life's lessons are the ones we are keenest to impart, and that these lessons we are certain to provide with utmost clarity from the wisdom gained by personal experience.

Who am I as a teacher? I am a student. Yes, I am no less a student. I also listen. I willingly appreciate and receive ideas, comments and of course suggestions. Everyday in my class sessions is a learning experience because I believe in the saying that, he who teaches learns.

Who am I as a teacher? I am a preacher. Teaching the right way to lead a right life in accordance with the divine ism and the integration of values everyday in my discussions are my guiding principles in transforming the lives of my students to be responsible and useful members of the society.

Lastly my name may not be known or may be forgotten but as a teacher, my profession, my lessons and character will always be remembered, hopefully, in the accomplishments of my students. And it is always my task to carry on the traditions of my mentors. The tradition to produce effective leaders, able professionals and responsible citizens.
