Different people have different reasons for keeping a blog on line. Some for business, others for personal either way you have to start somewhere when creating your online book of thoughts and comments.
One of the first things to figure out is your theme. If you are keeping a blog aimed at the business world choosing a blog provider such as www.livejournal.comor wordpress seem to be a bit more on the professional side. If you are looking for a personal experience,
www.blogspot.com or www.blog.ca are great starting points.
After doing your research on which free blog hosting site would be the most useful for your blogging needs and you have chosen your desired host, the fun part begins!
Every blogging or social network these days requires you to sign up for their services by filling out a little form of information, mostly which is for account and advertising purposes.
After all the basic information is entered and you're all signed up you will most likely be asked to choose your URL where your blog will live on the net.
Be creative when choosing a blog name and make it themed toward your blog. For instance if your blog is about dogs you could try poochblog.bloghost ect. Using your name is only useful if it's a personal or profile blog.
Speaking of profiles, after signing up and choosing your blog URL make sure to fill out any profile or "about me" areas of your blog account. Most blog hosts also allow a photo to be uploaded to your profile so that your readers can get a better visual of who you are.
Now that the technicalities are out of the way you are almost ready to begin blogging. Blogging hosts like blogger allow installation of gadgets or web apps to your blog, fun and useful little tools like favorite blog list are recommended.
Once you set up your theme, gadgets, profile etc begin your writing journey. You're first entry should be an introduction whether it be about you, you're business or what the blog represents readers want to know what they are in for.
Make sure and update your blog as often as you can with pictures and new posts. Blogs are often forgotten about and end up floating around as more cyber junk. Over all have fun, and get networking because that's what blogging is all about.
