Madison County is has many volunteering opportunities across the county. Huntsville, Alabama is host to a variety of choices. Whether you enjoy helping people, animals, or land there is always a place for you to share your time and expertise. Some opportunities are continuous service whereas others are part-time or annual. So it does not matter what your schedule is, there is something for everyone.

Huntsville Hospital

Huntsville Hospital is home to the largest volunteer staff in the state of Alabama. Without the volunteers, Huntsville Hospital admits they wouldn't be able to function. Some of the volunteer positions include General Office Assistant, Patient Escorts and Assistants, Critical Care Waiting Room, Gift Shop, and Information Clerks. If you are interested in volunteering you can apply online and be assigned to a volunteer coordinator.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity of Madison County is always looking for volunteers to help with a variety of projects. These projects include construction crew, serving lunches, helping in the store, family services, and so much more. Volunteering is available for individuals as well as groups. Their goal is to help put an end to poverty by helping create affordable homes for families.

Huntsville-Madison County Library

The Huntsville-Madison County Library has two types of volunteers. One is considered Star Volunteers. These are the volunteers that truly volunteer their time to the community on a frequent basis. Another type of volunteer at the library is Community Service volunteers and is generally court ordered to do so. All volunteers must be at least 14 years of age and can fill out an application at any branch in Madison County.

Huntsville Animal Services

This another great place to volunteer your time. You can choose to volunteer to work with the animals or choose activities where you won't come in direct contact with the animals. As far as age requirements are concerned; teens between the age of 12-14 can volunteer but only if they have an adult volunteer with them. If you are interested in volunteering with Animal Services, you can contact the Humane Educator at (256) 883-3794.

Manna House

Located at 2300 South Memorial Parkway, the Manna House is a community outreach of The Rock. The Manna House provides food, clothes, and more to needy families with a no questions asked approach. They are always looking for volunteers to help sort clothes and hand out food on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Try
