I used to be, a lot like you
A little of everything.
I've been right with wrong, and wrong with right
And everything in between..
I used to be, a lot like you
The nuts and bolts of a life.
Dismantled now, and thrown into jars
Labeled: "Cancer", "Ex-Dancer", "Ex-Wife".
Too old to join a Rock and Roll band
To young to give up that dream
Too smart to have fun doing what I did
When my slate was still blank and clean.
I used to be a lot like you
Wiser, the less I knew.
Curiosity lead to over-load
Until all the fuses blew.
Now I am, all that is left
Of the brilliance I was meant to be.
I used to be a lot like you...
