In our fast paced society, often people are eating fast food more than eating at home. It is possible to have quick convenient and healthy meals at home. This will not only be better for ones overall health, but will be good for the pocketbook as well. It is just a matter of having the right ingredients on hand in order to prepare these types of meals without going back the grocery store. Staples that every home should have on hand are boxes of macaroni and cheese, pasta, pasta sauce and canned or frozen vegetables and cans of chicken or tuna. With just these few ingredients on hand there are various combination of meals that can be made. The following ideas and instructions are to help you save time and effort.
1. Macaroni and Cheese with tuna are a favorite in our house. To start one has to boil a pot of water, this takes about 5 minutes to start. Once the water has started boiling, it is time to put in the macaroni This should take about 10 minutes to boil. Once the macaroni has boiled the water should be drained off into a colander and then returned to the pot. It is time to add the appropriate amount of milk and butter to mix up the sauce. Once this is done, open up a can of tuna, drain the water or oil and mix in with the macaroni and cheese. This is a tasty , quick and healthy alternative to eating fast food. From start to finish, this takes about 15-20 minutes to prepare from start to finish.
2. Spaghetti is a timeless American classic and is easy to prepare and one can add or make it simple as they please. From start to finish, it should take about 15-20 minutes. One needs to have a package of spaghetti 8-16 oz depending on the size of ones family and a can or jar of spaghetti sauce. It will take about 5-10 minutes for the water to start to boil, when it starts the bubble put the pasta in and let it boil for about 10 minutes. While pasta is cooking open up the spaghetti sauce and heat it in a sauce pan. You can also add some mixed vegetables if you desire to make it more nutritionally balanced. When the pasta is done drain it in a colander and return to the pot, Mix in sauce and vegetables and serve. This a meal that your family will love every time you make it.
3. Pasta and Vegetables. This can be accomplished by using what ever pasta and vegetables that you have on hand in the kitchen. I have used rotini and frozen Italian vegetables along with either spaghetti or Alfredo sauce. Preparation time is about 30 minutes from start to finish so you can
