Solitude
Sometimes, we're better off alone
Than with all the loved ones we've known.
A person's care can healing find
So too, the solitary mind.
For in solitude we can see
What might not appear so clearly.
Confusion reigning in the heart,
Strings quartering it from the start.
In solitude all voices fade.
Constantly with loud shouts they bade.
Everything silenced, now you breathe.
Resting, your mind no longer seethes.
But solitude's a fickle friend,
Loneliness sometimes at the end.
Peace so ardently sought is lost,
All for nothing the strain, the cost.
