In the non-members world, the only use of woodcutting is to get a higher firemaking level and a woodcutting level.

However, you can sell logs to member sin non-members world, and make a lot of money. If you are a non-member, then you should first get a woodcutting level of 80 to cut yews. Yew logs do not require a woodcutting level of 80, but you can cut them faster and beat the competition that will be there.

If you are a member then you should get 99-woodcutting level and cut magic trees. Magic logs sell for a lot of money, and people buy them very quickly. They can also be made into magic longbows and be sold for a lot of money.

Getting a high fletching level is a good idea to make more money with woodcutting. You don't have to sell your logs if you can fletch them and perform high-alchemy on them. The two of the best ways to make money from woodcutting is to use a rune axe on Yew logs in non-members world or use a dragon axe to cut yew logs/magic logs in members world.
