What is your favorite band and why?

by Con Fusion

This question is obviously very opinionated, and also depends on the time at which it is discussed. The mood that the writer is in at that particular time has much to do which who their favorite band will be. So, being as the time is now but by the time I finish it will be later, my favorite band is The Who.

"Who?" you ask, "The Who" I say. In terms of rock and roll they are the supreme beings. However, when I analyze this statement, many other bands come to mind: the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Cream, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Pink Floyd, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, and so many countless others that I cannot recall in one fluid stream of thought. These groups do not even encompass the many others that have come before, the pioneers of rock and roll: Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bo Diddley, Eddie Cochran, and the band of adventurers who were noteworthy participants in the creation of the rebellious movement. Yet is a band solely that which writes rock and roll music?

What of the jazz bands, the funk bands, the boy bands, the big bands, and the (insert your genre) band? Are they not worthy of a favorite band article? Or is it the fault of the article in not specifying what type of band to speak of. But no, a favorite band is a favorite band. Encompassing all genres and all types of music. A favorite is one's best of the best, no matter what theater of music is being spoken of. In this light the question is pointless and has no meaning to be discussed. Yet I read the question again and the critical word "Why" burns a hole into my reasoning. But I near the end of my stance on this ridiculous issue and have changed my mind. The Rolling Stones are my favorite. This is being said with as much certainty as I had with The Who. In this way it proves my point, no one can possibly have a favorite for any amount of time. Long live the indecisive nature of humanity and its inability to provide a concrete explanation.
