The best way to memorize the BIble is to firstly understand why you would bother. If you do not really know why, but someone has told you that it is a good idea, then it is best for you to have a decent look into why you would want to memorize Bible verses in the first place.
Here are some great reasons to memorize the Bible.
It is precious
"The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces."
- Psalm 119:72
It is alive and heart-changing
"For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart."
- Hebrews 4:12
It is what helps man live
"But he answered, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.''
- Matthew 4:4
The second step is to find a tool to help you with memorizing Bible Verses - I find the MaPaW Project most helpful as it is an Online Bible Memory Verse Tool.
I have found that www.mapawproject.com is the best tool for memorizing Bible memory verses and it is available for free on the internet. It emails you each day and tells you to try to remember the verse with little bits missing. By the end of the week all the words are missing.
Another reason why I find MaPaW helpful is that it is hard to memorize scripture in this day and age.
With the advent of the information super highway (the world wide web) there is so much information available to us as individuals. This presents us with an ever-growing problem that has not been faced in the past, namely, that we need to choose wisely what the best information for us will be. With websites all over the internet to gather and deliver encyclopaedic knowledge, social information, advertising information, game details, recreational activities, geographical information and news our time is spent taking up a large amount of information that simply wasn't available to us in the past so easily. Memorizing God's word needs to be intentional or it will be clouded out by every other interesting available service this information age has to offer.
