Fertility issues are a catch 22 these days. We encourage the young to wait until they are educated and settled in life before they have children, but fertility is at it's maximum in the young. Older couples want to have more children, but fertility begins a sharp decline at as early 30 years old.

The decline in cellular integrity as we age is most marked in the female partner's egg supply. All of the eggs that a woman will have are present when she is born. They age along with the woman. For men, the cellular integrity of sperm and of the reproductive system goes into decline, increasing the possibility of genetic damage. As a result, it is important to get good medical counseling about the risks associated with conceiving children after age 35.

With new knowledge, research and technology, there are some great ways of enhancing fertility. There are also myths, old wives tales and the latest and greatest fads in fertility management. In finding 27 tips, we will try to stick with the safest, most natural, and most successful tips.

FOR WOMEN

1. Get to a good state of health and maintain a good state of health. The woman's health is considered to be the most common contributor to a couple's inability to conceive. A complete physical and consultation with a doctor will help to determine if any medical help is needed in getting in better shape. A complete program of weight management, good eating, exercise, detoxification, and monitoring for ovulation is essential.

2. A fertility calendar or chart is a critical tool for finding the optimal time of the month for the couple to go for intercourse and conception. Fertility charts and calendars are available on line, and generally involve calculations that work with the first day of the period, the length of the period, and produce a calendar with the optimal days for fertilization.

A natural way to check for ovulation: Mucus appears when ovulation starts and lasts for about three days. The mucus aids in fertilization by allowing a moist environment for the sperm to travel and for the fertilized egg to attach. It also has a distinct appearance and feel that makes it easy to recognize.

Ovulation calendars and programs are widely available on line. There is no need to download any programs, which is not recommended, since some sites conceal viruses in those easy downloads.

Babycenter.com has an on line ovulation calendar. A simple process of entering the date of last period and the cycle length quickly produces the dates
