Today, digital cameras have risen in popularity to the point where they are more common than traditional (the kind into which you manually load film) cameras when compared with ten years ago. Digital cameras have many advantages, such as being smaller than their traditional counterparts, not requiring actual film, and being able to take many, many more pictures than you could fit on a single roll of film. It's also much easier to get the photo on a digital camera. Before, you would have to develop the film, take (or mail it) to the store, wait for them to develop it, and then go pick i tup (or have it mailed back). Now you can take the pic, copy it to your computer in less than 10 seconds, and then email it or print it or do whatever you want with it almost instantaneously. And you can send as many copies as you want for free to all your friends!
Digital cameras are so popular today that most people probably could not imagine life without them. People are always using their cameras, whether at weddings, birthdays, a night out with friends, or just at home taking pictures of their pets doing something cute. Even people who aren't always up-to-date with technology use digital cameras to take pics and quickly email them to their family.
Choosing a camera that has the right features for you is important. Digital cameras can range in price anywhere from under $100 up into the thousands depending on what king of features it has. For example, some cameras can take pictures at very high resolutions, while other cameras can only take smaller pictures. Most cameras have some sort of zoom feature to let you take closeup pictures from far away, but some cameras have optical zoom which is better than therefore typically more expensive than digital zoom. You can read discussions and camera reviews online about which cameras people like the best and also see some example photos that people have posted of pictures they took with each camera. This is perhaps the best way to help you choose which camera is right for you because you'll be able to see actual photos that have been taken and you'll be able to see if that's the type of photo you want to take. It's also a goo didea to go to actual stores and see the camera in person and see how it feels and if it's a good size for you.
