Found Money
If someond dropped a hundred dollar bill, would you return it to them? Of course I would return it, but I think that many people might just keep it in todays economy. Many people could use an extra $100.00. One could buy some groceries, pay a past due bill, buy some gas, or just take a friend or family member out to dinner. It also depends on the age, personality, and morals of the person finding the money. I believe that teens or young adults would most likely keep the money than return the money. It all depends on the person and who finds the money.
I will tell you about my experiences with finding money. The exciting event has happened to me a few times in my life. It feels good to find money, even though you know that it is not your to keep, and that you aren't going to keep it. I always returned the money if it was $10, $20 or more because the money did not belong to me. I was able to locate the person who lost the money in most cases.
I will start with the least amount of money that I found while I was working in the laundry room in a nursing facility. One day I was doing my regular duties with the laundry. I found a $20 dollar bill in the dryer with all of the linen. I also washed the tenants personal clothing, so I knew then that one of the residents must have had the money in one of their pockets and accidently threw it in their laundry. I immediately took the money up to the nurses desk in the front lobby. I asked them if they could hold on to it to see if one of the residents would make a claim on the 20 dollar bill. I never found out what happened to the money after that because I just figured that I did my part in helping who may have lost their money to get it back.
The next one was a big find. I was with my 18 year old daughter. We were going to the grocery store to pick up a few items. As we pulled into the parking space, I notices an object in the grocery cart. It was in the part of the cart where little children sit while in the cart. Before pulling into and stopping in the spot I noticed a women getting into an SUV and pulling away. At that time I didn't yet know what the black object was, so I didn't even think to take a license number down. The grocery cart was parked just beside the space that the woman had parked her car.
We got out of our car to see what the object was in the cart. Sure enough it was a women's wallet. I took the wallet in my car and showed it to my daughter. We looked in the wallet to find identification.
