Why the Superman video games have not been successful

Superman seems to be hit in the video game industry with a lot of bad luck. By that, it means that he hasn't had very many good Superman games. The question could be why is that the case? Is it that difficult to really come up with the right genre? That has to be something to consider when it comes to the games in general. Granted, this could be involving more with the older games than the newer without really passing judgment on them so keep that in mind.

This is going to be some serious speculation but more so about guessing on why there hasn't been that many good ones. So far, the only decent one looking at all of them would have to be The Death and Return of Superman and that is saying something. Of course, maybe the Arcade one was enjoyable but without playing it, it is hard to say but that still doesn't mean that there are that many good ones that stand out and say this is a good game without question. He is one of the most well-known comic book characters that had seen movies, animated shows, live action shows, there is just nothing that can be said about not knowing who The Man of Steel truly is.

Perhaps it might have been too difficult considering the Man of Steel had a few main weaknesses such as being exposed to the red sunlight thus rendering him as strong as a normal person and also Kryptonite with him being from the planet Krypton. That could have been a problem and would have to fit into a video game plot that would make the most sense.

The fun factor needs to be included and perhaps put in the right genre. They have tried platform games and it didn't seem to work. There is the beat 'em up and that did work so maybe if it had been focused on more than simply trying to make it a platform game, they might have actually had a few decent ones. Looking back into the past, it really seemed like it was difficult and could be easier to actually create a superhero based game with other characters considering Superman powers.

One of the ways they could have been successful would be making it to where it would seem like it would be enjoyable. Graphics will not make a game no matter good they are. If you do not have good game play, then quite honestly, all that effort in making the games look great graphically will be all for not. There is potential and it can be done. The difficulty of making it look good could be the issue in terms of making it something that people could pick up and say this is enjoyable without question. Maybe one day there will be a trend of many good Superman games, but it is just something that has to be looked at.
