Blogging started out as a social networking tool but was quickly adopted by businesses as a way to boost their marketing efforts. Social networking sites grabbed everyone's attention, either you loved them or you hated them, but you were aware of them. You may not be a huge fan of social networking but there are many reasons to blog about your business, some of them are listed below.
1. Communicate with clients. You may have a toll-free number, a website and a slew of customer relations staff on site to deal with walk-in customers but blogging opens up yet another avenue for communication. This type of communication also positions your company on the cutting edge and ensures that you can reach your customers on all fronts.
2. Low cost marketing. Setting up and running a blog is extremely low cost. There are even ways to host your blog for free and the technology is completely user friendly so there is no need for expensive tech support. It can be updated by your customer service staff as there are no specific skills needed.
3. They can stand alone. If you don't already have a website the good news is that blogs are actually being used as a scaled down and much less expensive option. Despite being cheaper to set up and maintain, blogs are also much more interactive and the information is dynamic as they are updated daily.
4. Drive traffic to your website. If you already have a website, a blog is still a good idea as blogs are easily trawled by search engines. This means that it is several times easier for a potential client to stumble across your blog that it is for them to accidentally find your website. This has to do with the dynamic information used on the blogs. The real plus is that as long as they find your blog you can link them to your website.
5. Position yourself as the expert. Blogging about issues that are central to your business or industry places you squarely as the voice of reason and expertise in the eyes of your target market. Nothing could be more valuable than a good reputation.
If you haven't already started blogging about your business do some research today on how to tap in to this extremely great marketing tool or risk being left behind, because your competitors surely won't let the wave pass them by.
