!00%! Yes! Alcohol and Drug Addictions is definitely a Disease! Alcoholics cannot control the amount that the drug and or the body of a person greats so addicted the it will not function normally without the alcohol. The same goes for Drug addicts their addiction causes them to not be able to function with out it. Just like cancer it there is no It's gone I healed my cancer. Cancer has Remission and Addicts have Recovery Time.

This is always a hard concept to grasp because if you don't have an addiction then you do not know. Though most have some type off addiction just not as mind boggling. Other Addiction could be Prescription medication, Soda, (Pepi/Coke), OCD (addiction of everything being in it's home), Biting your Nails, Picking your Nose........That was just to show you different types it could be. Ones body gets Addictions rather easy and alcohol and drugs have nice side effect that makes you not care that your life suck. Though the more you do this alcohol or drug the more your life will suck because you don't care about fixing the addiction or making your life better because, the longer you do, it the more you do.Just like The longer you go with out treating cancer it will spread.

Getting off the addiction is a lot more work, AA and NA meeting are a good way to get off alcohol and drugs. Though in order to succeed in recovery you would have to meet people, hang out with those people, and be friends. Changing the people you hand out with changes the places you hang out, then normally if you are all in recovery, the things you are doing will change. That is the People, places, things, about Recovery. That may sound easy but it's not. some addictions cause you to have physical withdraw when you stop doing it, and you may also have a mental addiction to the substance. Having a mental addiction is a hard one to get over that is when your brain tells you and believes that you need it. It loves every part of it. With alcohol it could be, the burn in you thought with the first drink or the way the beer can sounds when it opens, people fall in love with those thing. They do this because it reminds them of the feeling the have when they are drunk. When someone is drunk they have no emotions, they don't think of what happen at work today, or the fight they had with their wife/ husband (girl/boy friend). Nothing matters but the fun time or their high. That is why the mental addiction is so bad, sometimes it is a day to day fight to say no i don't want to do that today. Only 1 out of 10 stay sober for years without relapse.
