His was a secret love
He cradled in his heart
A gift sent from above
From whom he'd never part
His Angel on earth; his taste of bliss
Even though she could never be his
Had they met when he was younger
He wouldn't now feel this hunger
A need for a bond that would never be
Scraps of time; no guarantee
Whatever she had to offer, he would take
Her heart was his, yet his did ache
For the chance to sing about what they'd got
To declare their love from the rooftops
But silence he had promised to give her
In return, he'd have her love forever
