Website reviews: Cricinfo.com

As a big time sports fan, and a small time gambler I seem to use a lot of sports sites for either live scores or latest results. As far as boxing is concerned the only option is boxrec, flash score is the best for tennis, live score for football, official sites for snooker and darts, ESPN for American based sports and of course Cricinfo.com for cricket. In fact the comparison to boxrec is probably the best out of the lot for the other features but onto them a bit later. As far as live cricket scores Cricinfo seems to have them all at the top level be it 4 day country games, obscure under 19 internationals, 20-20, limited overs, ODI's or in fact Test matches the site has them all.

As well as the live scores, which make up much of the use of the site as far as I am personally concerned, the site has regular articles based on the cricketing world. These are often better written than those writing for some of the trade publications though can occasionally be a little bit worse, though they are always worth reading. Often on the front page there is some links to current on going series with some pre-match build up, or some post match comments, things like rumoured squad changes and what players have said.

Like I said previously the site is similar to boxrec, in fact you could argue it is the boxrec of cricket with the sheer number of stats on offer for you to look at read through and think about. Starting with a current on going match you can click (usually) any players name to be taken to their bio screen which includes a vast array of details from the normal height and age, to the their nicknames, relations (in cricket) and schooling. The stats though are where the site is excellent, showing the players bowling, fielding and batting stats for their career (I'm currently on Ajmal Shahzad's page so the following will be form their). The page says that Ajmal has taken a total of 66 wickets in all forms of the game (not including tonight's match) and though he hasn't done as was expected of him they still feel there is things to come from the player. The rest of his current time (Yorkshire) are down the left hand side of the page as well allowing you quick access to the entire team.

What we can also find on the site (and perhaps something Boxrec could actually do) are the records, which is only of the places where the site can become far too easy to lose your self in. This ranges from the simple "most runs by a player in test matches" and "most wickets in ODI's" (Sachin
