Conceiving a child is a monumental decision in any couple's life. Once you've made that decision and things are not going according to plan, you may find yourself in need of ways to help the process along. If you are looking for ways to naturally improve your odds of getting pregnant, there are two types of strategies to consider. First, you need strategies that are designed to increase your fertility (Proactive Strategies). Second, you need strategies that will reduce your chances of infertility (Avoidance Strategies). It is vital to address both types of approaches in order to achieve success.

Proactive Strategies

1. Low Impact Aerobic Exercise

Low impact aerobic exercise such as walking (outside or on a treadmill), swimming, or riding a bicycle (real or stationery) can help increase fertility for several reasons. First, it helps you to maintain a healthy body weight and reduce fat. This is important because extra fat cells can increase production of estrogen and insulin, both of which can impair your natural menstrual cycle. Second, moderate exercise can help reduce stress, which also affects fertility. Finally, low impact aerobic exercise improves your blood circulation, which helps keep your reproductive organs working at optimal levels.

2. Natural Herbs

The use of herbs to promote fertility is part of health tradition known as naturopathy. Studies have shown that certain herbs such as Black Cohosh, Dong Quai, Chasteberry (Vitex) and Red Raspberry Leaf have been useful in increasing fertility. However, DO NOT take any of these supplements without consulting your doctor. Some do not interact well with other vitamins or medications you may be taking so TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR before taking any type of remedy that he or she has not prescribed.

3. Vitamins

Vitamins are an important part of maintaining health. But there are also certain vitamins that are known to be especially useful in fertility enhancement, particularly in males. Vitamin C can help sperm move more quickly and smoothly toward the egg, and so can antioxidants. Both calcium and Vitamin D can increase testosterone (male hormones) and semen. It is also important not to let Zinc levels become deficient. Daily multivitamins have been proven to help increase fertility in both men and women. However again, it is vital to TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR before taking any type of remedy that he or she has not prescribed.

4. Fiber Intake

Eating foods rich in fiber is a natural, safe and effective way to enhance fertility.
