Songs: The colors of Autumn

by C. L. Craven

Created on: September 12, 2009

Verse:

Crimson and gold, the day could have told

A story so lovely, soon to unfold

With Autumn's wind blowing, two hearts became one

Under an oak, beaming red with the sun

Love soft and tender, as leaves touched the ground

Elements of pleasure, innocently found

Just a boy and a girl, strangers before

They happened to meet, walking out of a door

Chorus:

The colors of Autumn, painted pictures so bright

How could they have known, the darkness of night

That soon they would be parted, too young to know their fate

With tears the broken hearted, closed the garden gate

Hook:

The years passed with the seasons, each Autumn they could see

The carving they had placed upon the bark of that old tree

Their hearts could not forget, but found a place to store

A tapestry of treasured love, that lives for evermore

Chorus:

The colors of Autumn, painted pictures so bright

How could they have known, the darkness of night

That soon they would be parted, too young to know their fate

With tears the broken hearted, closed the garden gate
