The wind is blowing and my shutters creek
I want to scream, but can't even speak.
"Hey Mom, Hey Dad," if they only knew,
The sort of night that I've been through,
I don't dare look, for danger looms with
parades of goblins, ghosts and brooms,
Skeletons and vampires out for an evening stroll,
Oh, how Hallows Eve is taking quite a toll.
I think I heard my pumpkin, rolling down the hill,
calling out to me but then it all seemed still.
Ok, I reassure myself, all this is quite bizarre,
my window shows there's nothing there just a single shining star.
The super hero inside of me reminds me I am strong
I jump right out of bed and hope that he's not wrong.
I leap down steps to my front door and open it with pride
And there upon my wooden porch my pumpkin still resides
So heed this warning to all you goobs and goofy gobblers,
who try and frighten kids with your scary face and slobbers.
Be on your way , don't come back for I'll be ready for you
I shut my eyes, you're there no more; for were never true.

Poetry: Halloween
In the old cemetery Halloween night,
The low moon was full and bright,
But intermittently obscured by thin wispy clouds.
And
On old hollow eve he first was seen
Riding a black horse with sword in air
A figure draped in black, a frighting fiend
CEMETERY SCENE:
‘Twas late in the evening
One Halloween
When I happened
upon this scene
Being lowered into a grave
The other side of Halloween...
Autumn cast its pallet
over Summer's ripened fruit
as harvest bares the fields once more
by Jack Ivey
It’s late this night of Halloween
I’m lost and quite alone
Walking down an empty street
To find my way back
