Poetry: Justice

by L A Myers-Campos

Created on: September 12, 2009

"Just Us" (a.k.a. justice)

Just us, we are the only justice
In this broken dream of freedom.
Just us, with impunity and malice
Devising rules by greed, not wisdom.

Just us, blindly seeing just one side
With no eyes for what is real.
Just us, denial of those outside
Left alone to reason and feel.

Just us, living in a false world of order
Enforcing laws with hidden fear.
Just us, unable to cry "No Quarter"
And admit the truth so crystal clear.

Just us, choices made with money,
No thought for those without option.
Just us, unknowing of the sad funny
Lives many bear without question.

Just us, no rest for the wicked and weary,
Sparing no deed, good or bad.
Just us, suspicious and leery
Of pleasures we have not had.

Just us, self-chosen and righteous,
Ruling our own delusional peace.
Just us, to admit error is tortuous,
For fear our comforts might cease.
