Definitely a website. It's just simple. You can have a blog on your own website, but you can't have a website inside your own blog. Chances are, you need to make another page for the website. With your own website, it's more synchronize. It's easier for you to maintain both website and blog. Here are some advantages in having a website instead of a blog.
With a website, you'll be able to synchronize both website and blog at the same time. It saves you time. When you update your blog, your whole website will also be updated. There are so many website makers that offers free blogging. It makes everything easier.
You can post more information promoting your work with a website. As mentioned earlier, you can also have a blog on your website. So with your own website, you can have your home page to be just about the whole product you have. And with your blog within the website, you can post updates and latest versions of your products. In that way, you can give your customers more options.
You, yourself can have more options on how to promote your product. If you have your own website, you can have your own page for just photos of your product, or just videos. You can also have a section for just all the comments and testimonies. Remember, customers always need assurance. That means, you can customize the whole website for the benefit of both you and your customers.
Those are just some benefits you and your customers will get if you have a website, instead of a blog. Let's take a look at the disadvantages of getting a blog instead of a website.
With a blog, you can't fully customize it without paying, or without costing you some time. And time is very important. Since with blogs, they're mainly for blogging only. In special cases, blog comes with its own photo gallery. But that's just in special cases. To have your own video gallery on a your blog, it's gonna require you some expertise.
If you have another website, it's gonna take you some time to update both your blog and your website. You wouldn't want to reject your website. Especially if you're paying for it. So, chances are, you have to update your blog and then your website. You can always do it once and just let the magic of internet technology update both automatically.
There are more disadvantages, but those are what I have now. You can try it yourself, and you can see the big difference.
