Superman Vs. Batman
An undoubtedly ridiculous fight for three simple reasons, which makes this long running question completely preposterous.
First off Batman came about his position in the crime fighting world, not just through his money, or his strength, but his wits. He has been able to juggle finances, relations, and the general public into respecting two completely different personalities with no one the wiser. Someone with this type of thinking cap on would never take the risk in fighting someone who is, by all means, 98% invincible. He would have to research his enemy and in doing so would understand that his vulnerability lies spread throughout the universe, starting from a solar system millions of light years away.
Second, though they both share the same three letters in their caped crusading names, only one of them uses those letters as his description. Batman is just that, a man. Though strapped to the gills with gadgets that put any dude's garage tinkering to shame. He is a man, and in that, by time tested facts will have many weaknesses that will reveal themselves in time. Superman on the other hand, as strapping of a lad as he is as Clark Kent, is something that people fail to see. He is an alien, a six foot, brown haired, blue eyed, spandex encased alien. He doesn't sport the bug eyed, grey skinned, three fingered look, but his chemical makeup is not of this world. Who knows what kind of hat tricks superman would pull if he thought he was in the fight of his life. Batman on the other hand could pull all kinds of tricks out of his bat belt and if a sharp object caught him just right, game over man, game over.
Lastly and definitely not least, speed and mobility, something so many overlook due to the fact that Batman owns a boat and a plane and a jet pack and a. . Well you understand. He is limited by the very inventions that he uses to fight crime here on earth. If his Bat-plane were to run out of gas, then no more air combat. If the battery in that wicked awesome bat-belt climbing wire goes dead, then no more cirq-de-bat shows. Superman on the other hand has total area coverage no matter what planet he is on. He is like the Master Card of superheros, he's anywhere you are and anywhere you want to be. In the time it takes your friends son to belch the alphabet, superman could be doing the jitterbug on Pluto, though I take him for more of the disco type.
These two characters have been around the comic book world for longer than many of their fans have been alive. This is why this question still stands today, and why it will probably never get truly answered. These are two forces that should never cross paths due to the fans that both heroes have accumulated, and all the damage that would ensue during said throwdown. However, if they do, Superman would go home waving the trophy in one hand and the bat-mobile in the other. I mean, come on, who wouldn't want one of those?
