Please do not be offended when I ask, Are you really alright? With yourself and your relationships? With the choices you are making? The path you are taking and where its leading you?
I am not judging you and certainly will not quote a bunch of scriptures at you, but am simply encouraging you to open the doors of your heart and mind- even if by just a crack- to allow yourself to be loved like you have never known love before and to experience a new life so inexplicably wonderful that you will never want to go back to your old life.
The One who loves you more than you know is called Jesus Christ, and guess what? He thinks you're alright, too! In fact, He thinks you are more than alright; He absolutely adores you just as you are right now. There is nothing you can do to make Him love you more. That's right! He loves you wholly and completely just the way you are. He loves you whether you have made good, responsible choices for your life, or if you have made terrible mistakes. It does not matter; He loves you and craves to have a close relationship with you. He loves you. Period. He does not need you, but He wants you. You, on the other hand, need Him in a tremendous way.
You can come up with all kinds of rationalizations and justifications about why you believe you are not in need of Him, but you are just wasting time. You may believe that you are alright, but you are missing out! For many years, I, too, denied my need for Jesus and lived life the way I wanted to because I thought that I could take care of myself. I believed that if a god did exist, he likely wanted to ruin my fun with a bunch of strict, old-fashioned rules. I still looked out for other people by serving the homeless living on the streets of Philadelphia, so I was alright, or so I thought. I could not have been more deluded in my thinking and now regret barring Jesus from my life when all He wanted and still wants to do is love me.
What I know now is that what people refer to as their conscience is really the voice of Jesus. We can ignore the voice, squash it down, and continue living in denial, but that will not keep Him away! He wants to get your attention, and He will not give up on you. If you allow yourself, you will become more aware of the all of the ways He is trying to demonstrate His love for you. Pay attention to that voice! In fact, I have a challenge for you.
So, you believe you are 'alright. Therefore, you have absolutely nothing to lose by trying this: go ahead and tell Jesus that you have doubts about whether He is even someone you want to know and that you have lived this far without Him, so why should you start now? He can handle the honesty. Then, ask Him to introduce Himself.
I promise you, once you begin to know Him, you will want to know more, but just start there. Take that one, little step. Again, what do you have to lose? By the way, have you ever thought about why I and other Christians share these kinds of messages with you? It's because our lives have changed so radically, and we do not want to keep all of the love, joy, blessings and glory to ourselves. We want you to have some of this, too; there is plenty to go around because God is a Big God! I think you're probably alright, too, but I cannot wait to see what you become, even if I don't get to meet you until we get to Heaven! See you there!
