What to do? What to do? I constantly find myself asking. No one in particular really, sometimes I will say it in a room when I'm by myself, as if I expect for the walls around me to answer. This never happens, of course so I continue oblivious, and most of the time confused.
It's a strange thing, having time to kill, to think. Think mostly of things you can improve and do better, or something which you can do to make yourself better. Its strange how we rarely think about the good, about our achievements and even when we do we only criticize or analyze them, its almost as if people refuse to believe that they have done something good or good enough.
I always wonder why we constantly question and think of the shoulda woulda coulda. Why not be content, why not be happy, why are we always impatiently striving for perfection, be it with our jobs, family, social lives or our bodies. We can never accept the one "off day" we have every once in a while, because somewhere along the line someone convinced us that it was unacceptable and each time that day comes along we start to question our being, our lives as if the whole world is crashing around us.
Speaking from much experience, impatience gets you nowhere fast. The first day of anything I do, I always expect it all to come together immediately. If I start a new diet or join a new gym at the end of day one im always distraught that I haven't already lost ten pounds and am ready to quit and go back to bad habits, because clearly this method doesn't work. If I start a new job, I always expect a promotion by five p.m. the very same day. But of course life does not happen like that, and as soon as you can accept this things will start to come into place, because your mind will be clear of pressure and frustration. Which will allow it to focus on the task ahead and get the job done, and in turn help us realize that things don't happen in a second and that we need to give life a minute or two to really come together, develop and be consistent. For example, when a woman gives birth to a child she doesn't expect it, the next day to be a self sufficient twenty-something with a college degree and a job making six figures a year. Of course not! That would be a ridiculous assumption, not to mention completely far fetched. Each woman knows that from the moment she finds out she is pregnant, she must take good care and responsibility so that her child is born healthy, and after the birth many years and much effort must be put
