When you mention the all-time best NBA scorer, alot of names come up. You have the modern day heroes, such as Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, and Kobe Bryant. You have the up and rising, like Brandon Roy, Danny Granger, and Derrick Rose. Then you have the legends. Guys whose careers are over, but in there day, they knew how to put a basketball in the hoop. The top three legends in my opinion are Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Oscar Robertson.
Michael Jordan obviously the most known basketball player. It's near impossible to find someone who dosn't know who MJ is. Larry Bird, now there is an interesting player. I think nowadays, he's not viewed along with MJ, and Magic Johnson, because he had a slower type of basketball. You don't really see very many players like him anymore. The player I think most resembles him is Dirk Nowitski. But, Larry Bird was an incredible scorer. Then we get to Oscar Robertson. Robertson is a player lost in time. Not many are familiar with him, but he was also a great scorer averaging aroun 30 a game every night.
Now we get to the current stars. And I'm gonna start with Lebron James. Never in the history of basketball has there been a player as dominant as Lebron James. Build of a center, speed of a guard, he is unstoppable. Definitely one of the best scorers of all time. Dwayne Wade. 6'4, fast, strong, explosive, everything you want out of a guard, and he showed his skill this past season, leading the league in points per game. I don't know if I'd call him the best of all time, but definitely one to keep an eye on. Kobe Bryant, got the best jumper out of these modern day greats, and can drive at the same time. He puts pointson the board, but he could put up more if he'd pass the ball. I think he's too selfish, and that holds him back. That's what most people know, if you can pass, your gonna be a great scorer. Guys can't pressure you as much, if they know you can throw a crazy pass. Your not gonna get double teamed if you can pass. Kobe needs to pass!
Then you have the rising stars. They're definitely not in the running for greatest of all time, but I figured I should mention them. First off, you got Brandon Roy. A risk coming in to the draft, as most analysts didn't believe in hime. Boy, were they wrong. What an asset he turned out to be for those Blazers. He's a great scorer, with a great future ahead of him. Danny Granger, my favorite player, I've got his autographed jersey at home. This kid, guess I shouldn't say kid as I'm 13 myself, can score. He's improved by 5 or more points every year of his career. A feat done by no other. Danny will be a great scorer. Derrick Rose, nothing needs to be said about the young explosive guard. He can drive, and he can shoot. He's a pure scorer.
Anyway, I guess for me it comes down to Lebron, MJ, Oscar, and Larry. The first person I'm taken off is Oscar. He's incredible, but not the best. So now I'm down to Lebron, MJ, and Larry. Larry, bye. A great shooter, he can drive too, even has a bit of a post up, but your leaving with the bronze. Now, MJ or Lebron. The true great Debate, who is better? Lebron is bigger and stronger, but does that make him a better scorer. I'm sorry Lebron, but I'm goin with Michael. Michael Jordan had a better jumper, and was quicker. I think MJ is the best scorer of all time.
