I am always amazed to see the responses that some people give on a topic that involves women in the workplace. In some ways we have come so far from where we used to be. Yet, in reading the mindset of some narrow minded individuals who still think women should be at home making the bed and cooking, it's obvious that we have not come far enough.
Being a male, I am cognizant of what areas men usually excel in. And I will say that although many women maintain an overall level of fitness that is equal to a man's, there are some professions in my opinion, that because of physical restrictions alone, women should think twice about indulging in. But again, these jobs are limited, and I say this for physical reasons and not because they are not bright enough or intelligent enough to perform in these areas.
The times have changed and society is full of smart, hard working women who now frequent the jobs that were for many years dominated by males. Careers such as law enforcement, fire fighting, astronaut, attorney and politics are just a few examples. Women definitely stand strong in these professions (and more), and certainly add an element of diversity that is good in any profession. Yet, while women have come a long way, there is still ground to be gained. But it is not ground that is unattainable.
So, this brings us to the question of "what exactly is the best profession that a woman can achieve in her life?"
In a society where education is more accessible than ever before, rather than asking "what is the best profession a woman CAN achieve ?" why not ask "what profession does a woman WANT to achieve?" It all depends on the woman herself and what gives her that supreme sense of achievement that she is seeking. In many ways, she is limited only by her dreams and determination.
As I stated earlier, an intelligent woman is just as capable of top notch performance in many of the coveted jobs that are so often held by men. However, even in modern day society she will still face barriers along the way, one of most frustrating being society's view of where she should and should not tread. This a sad but true fact, a burning flame of negativity that hopefully will continue to dwindle as time passes. In the meantime, dedicated women of strength continue to face adversity and strive forward.
Here's to the bright, determined, hard working women of this world.
