Money blinds humanity to issues far more important than money itself. Money is only gold, silver and paper, which unless assigned an artificial value, is essentially worthless. The love of money is the root of all evil because we allow it to be, in fact we virtually envy the power that money holds over us. Is money itself the root of all evil?
Let us examine the basis for this oft-misquoted statement. The actual statement in the Word of God is the love of money is the root of all evil.
Therein lies an error in the foundation of understanding. As is increasingly more common, much of humanity has modified the Word to suit themselves and failed to recognize the inherent evil in doing so. Read and weep not crocodile tears, for this applies to humans in all state of economic and moral disrepair.
But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love patience , meekness. ( I Timothy 6: 9-11 Holy Bible, K.J.V.)
The unfortunate human being falls into the trap and temptation of money and in doing so, sadly attempts to use money and power to validate his foolish and hurtful life style while ignoring the state of his soul . In perpetuating the incorrect use of money, and failing to recognize that one has fallen in love with the power of money, we are quickly and keenly blinded to the necessity for right-mindedness and the desirable biblical tenets of righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. (ibid)
The eternal question which increasingly must be answered then is, which is more important? The love of money, money itself, or humanity ? Choose now.
Money offers choices when used properly. Money can feed starving children and provide medicine to the ill. It can educate society to a higher state of awareness and a better path to civilization. Money can equally fund death to all, economic warfare upon the poor, the old, the disadvantaged, and the physically challenged. It can arrogantly create legal precedents with lies, consume resources at hereto unbelievable rates, and ingratiate hard-working people forever to the rich. Money can destroy if allowed to do so. The love of money drives the engines of greed, hypocrisy and feelings of self-entitlement.
The love of money offers, and even generates, endless temptation, hypocritical illusions of power, and mindlessly funds a stagnant decay of morality that cannot be dismissed easily or quelled by repetitive, hollow words, tithes, tokens, promises, or feigned repentance.
Excuses are worthless as greed and a predominance of the love of money and increasingly bad choices are made universally at the expense of all of humanity. Therein lies the problem with the love of money the improper use of money itself.
Therein also lies an obvious solution. Money also offers civilized, valuable choices, so if blessed with money, it is a fundamental responsibility to choose well. Love money less, and humanity more comes to mind as the root of evil changes society -and is a serious challenge to all.
