Long live the king: Why Elvis is the greatest performer of all time

Absolutely no one can compare to the greatest entertainer of all time, the one and only Elvis Presley. He started out as a young man who had no idea that he would really change music the way we knew it. He just came at us like a storm. He was like thunder and lightning. He just kept getting more and more powerful. He struck us all with his voltage! He was a a presence. All he had to do was open his mouth, not even sing a chord, and he could make grown women cry (some men too). At first he did the television scene with Ed Sullivan and a few others. They gave him the start he needed. As soon as people saw him one time, they knew he was undoubtedly a magical force. Once his military duty ended, he did the movie scene.

The Las Vegas Elvis is my all time favorite. The outfits were just the beginning. Elvis by now, as every one knows is THE KING OF ROCK AND ROLL . There is not another person on earth that even comes close to Elvis. I get really aggravated when I hear people compare Elvis and Michael Jackson. They both were very talented, but their styles were totally different. They didn't even sing the same music. Then came the suits. Those white jump suits, the confidence, his voice was at its strongest and most vibrant. When he sang "how great thou art" I got chills. Now his male perfection appearance! WOW! What I would have done to meet that man. I saw him in concert twice. Once in New York in 1971. Another time in Connecticut in 1973. Both times he gave fabulous performances.

I remember watching one of his last televised concerts on TV shown soon after his death. I cried. He needed help just to get on stage. A gentleman helped him sit at the piano. He started to play. He gave his little half smile. His fingers were so swollen he had a hard time moving them to play. He had gained so much weight that he was barely recognizable. But let me tell you, he still had the voice of an angel. I think all of us true Elvis fans would have loved and accepted him no matter what. To us he was perfect. He was private enough that we didn't know a lot about his private life until later. It wouldn't have made a bit of difference. He was our Elvis. We loved him then and we love him now. Rest in peace sweet angel.
