Expressing yourself through writing is made easier while doing it in the Helium community. As a new Helium member, it can be a bit confusing. There are so many titles to write to and you may not know where to start. That is when seasoned Helium writers can help you through the process.
Here are some helpful tips for new Helium members to get through with ease:
Guidelines
It is important that Helium members read the guidelines for the website. This can help you avoid big errors that could, in the end, have your account deleted. It will also answer a lot of questions that you may have. This is the place to start. Don't write any articles until you understand what Helium is all about and how to write effective articles that will reach the audience you are writing to.
Community
The Helium community is very friendly and helpful. Don't be afraid to ask questions. People who know the ropes will be glad to answer your questions. There are times that you aren't able to find the answer to your questions no matter how much you search the site. This is the time to lean on other members for help. Be patient. Someone will answer your question as soon as they have an answer for you. It usually doesn't take long for someone to come along and give you good advice on how to handle certain situations. Check back often to see if the question has been answered.
Choosing Titles
It can be difficult choosing the titles you want to write to. It isn't because there aren't enough titles to cover. It is because there are so many, it makes it hard to decide what to go with first. The best way to choose titles that you will enjoy writing to is to go with whatever one first strikes your eye. There will be plenty of time to add to the titles as time goes on. You will find yourself addicted to writing for Helium. Choose titles that attract you. These will usually be titles that you have some passion about. Let you passion for that subject lead you while you write. This will make your article stand out from others.
Contests
Contests can be very difficult to win. It isn't because you are a poor writer. It is because there is so much great competition to them. If you choose to write to contest titles, be aware that you may not win. It is always nice if you do, but don't count on it. Write your best for the contests and then let it go. Getting obsessed with your scores can drive you crazy. The scores will rise and drop so often that you won't know how to keep up with them.
Writing
Be careful about your writing. Use proper English and grammar. Your punctuation should be accurate and your sentences should make good sense. Avoid repeating yourself throughout the article. Never plagiarize, this is against Helium rules and the law. Re-read your article before you publish it. This will give you a better chance at good writing scores.
Being a new writer at Helium can be overwhelming. Take your time and navigate the site before you dive in head first. This will give you a better idea of what is expected of you and what you can expect from the site. You have the ability to rise high in Helium. You just have to take your time getting there so that you do it right from the start.
