Recently, I read something that struck me in a Billy Graham book titled,"The Secret of Happiness", that is the basis for me writing this: He said,"Christianity is, first, a coming to Christ-an inflowing of the Living Water; second, it is a reaching for Christ-an outflowing. It is to be shared in love, mercy, and compassion with others. A body of water which has an inlet but no outlet becomes a stagnant, insect-infested pond. When we think of Christianity as my experience, my emotions, my ecstacy, my joy, my faith- with no desire to share mercifully with others-we can only boast of stagnation." I don't want to be stagnant in my faith and love so I reach out to you with this article.
Some find it hard to study the Bible, so I propose this to you: Jesus said," Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." What does that mean? Well, in a nutshell, He was saying that we have to feed our soul, as much as we feed our physical body. How? By reading and studying your Bible. You have to take care of your soul, just as much as you have to take care of your physical body. So, next time you think it's a chore to study your Bible, think of it as, "Well I fed my body, now it's time to feed my soul."
I was studying and found out, in my spirit, the meaning of studying my Bible. We are to improve our life and those around us by using the Word, and applying it to our lives. Thus, our faith in ACTION.
Years ago, Creflo dollar said something in a sermon I was listening to on TBN and it stuck with me. After all these years, he said,"God's Word is like a recipe in a cookbook. Try making a chocolate cake. Use the the recipe and it will be GREAT, don't use the recipe and you'll have a jumbled up mess.If you follow the recipe (the Bible), you'll have a great life. If you don't you'll have a jumbled up mess." I have learned that to be the truth the hard way. I study all the time, everyday...so why do I have a jumbled up mess? "Be ye doers of the Word, not hearers only, deceiving yourselves."What good is a recipe if you just read it all the time, but never go and MAKE what's on the recipe? Thus, a LIFE IN ACTION.
Having said that, I brainedstormed to find as many ways to improve my life that I have learned from the Bible. This is a small list of them. I brainstormed about 20 minutes and this is what I came up with. Rest assured, all of these are from scripture and I hope you find this list beneficial to you:
