Poetry: Autumn

by Andrea Montack

Gone is summer and the lovely sunshine

Cookouts in the back yard hanging with family and friends

Here comes autumn with its long gray days

Shorts and the halter tops replaced by jackets and cardigans

Nature takes on a mind of its own

Green leaves are replaced by a new colour show

Amidst the dark and gray days

Yellow, Browns and orange are gaily displayed

As Mother Nature transforms the leaves of the trees

Showing us her brand of creativity

Animals start hoarding for the long winter ahead

While us mere mortals' looks to winter with dread.
