Pumpkin Pie in Peanut Butter
I like my sugar just fine,
Cinnamon's bite is truly sublime,
Vegetables steamed, buttered,
Baked or crunchy fried is worth a sigh,
Just don't feed me any pumpkin pie.
And if you take me on the road,
Want me to eat buffalo toes,
Pound conch and make it into soup,
Or turn bananas sticky with caramel goop,
I'll be a hero and eat anything I'm told.
Except for one teeny little rule,
Feeding me things I don't like isn't cool,
Since tummy twisters are not worth drool,
Like onion, cheese, peppers or beans,
They make me feel very mean.
When my stomach says this sucks
And makes my life really rough,
My peanut butter is my life line,
That keeps me healthy if I can't dine,
So don't feed me any pumpkin pie.
And if you have to stretch your dimes,
Make food spread further among our kind,
Just remember to use your mind,
And remember the rule about pumpkin pie,
Adding it to peanut butter is a crime.

Pumpkin Pie
Some small and tempting to the waiting child,
Some larger than the plate and overflowing,
Brought in from gardens
I bought a pumpkin at the store,
I did not know his name;
I'd add some eyes, some ragged teeth
And a candle for a flame.
